Try keep a long story short,back in 70's they had what was called the Crater Festival inside Diamond Head every new years day.
There was a band Sassaphras that played and kicked ass.
They said they play at The Gay 90's which to me and my friends we didn't know what a gay was we were only 18.
So weeks later were going to Waikiki an look up Gay 90's in phone book and go check them out OMG.
But the band and the sound was great an we went back as did many others as they were getting quite a following even opened for Areosmith
Fights were breaking out an they eventually moved to a bar across the street and sounded like shit in that building.
They eventually relocated to S.F and never heard of them again.

When I was in college a couple friends of mine told me to go with them to a bar. There was this one guy that was buying them drinks. Being a poor college kid I didn't put 2 and 2 together so I said let's go!
We walked in and ordered a couple drinks and this guy "Gary" paid for them. I don't know why I remember his name. The next thing I see is a big black man dressed up as a woman walk by. This was in Lincoln, Neb. mind you so I figure he used to play for the Huskers at one time but I didn't recognize him.
I told the other guys that this was a gay bar and they said they knew but they just wanted free beer. I had to take a piss so I go into the bathroom and stand at the urinal. The next thing I know someone is grabbing my ass! It turns out to be my straight friend pranking me into thinking some gay guy was hitting on me. Bastard.
Anyway, it turned out that the guy who found out about this place was bi-sexual. So it wasn't really an accident that we ended up there.
Another aspect is this fat girl that was there. She asked us if we wanted to get high so we said sure. She had a car so we are driving around and we get high. We ask her why she's at a gay bar. She said her boyfriend is gay but that's the only way she could get attention from a guy. She knew he had sex with other guys and not her but at least she had a chance to get out and meet friends. The gay guys didn't shun her like the straight guys did because she was fat. Kind of sad.

I might be a couple of years younger then BadCo, back then we knew what gays were, we just never had to deal with them! Fuckers hid the way they should and kept there shit in the closet! Since I will never meet any of you fuckers, Around 1978 at an after hours club on Houston Street in Manhatten my friends and I stumbled into this joint and I played grab-ass with the hottest Puerto Rican bitch in the place, turned out to be a pre-operational Transvestite, had the Best rack I had ever seen (back then) when I felt the bulge after I slipped my hand up under her skin tight slinky white dress I puked right on her (it)! Was totally classic, My buddy T, who was sworn to secracy finally outted me like 20 years latter at a reunion, it was funny then and still is now!

My ex lived on West Cornelia off Broadway in the heart of Chicago's Boystown. Had some of the best laughs ever watching those 'guys' dress up and perform on stage as women. Never went without the missus and it was always on our way home after dinner and rinks so we were fairly well oiled at that stage. It's just good fun - unless you walk in there alone with a pair of short shorts on and a pink polo everyone will leave you alone.

in the village in NYC back in 86 o r87 not sure....place the called the pot bellystove i think......8 of us walked in 4 guys and girls went to a table sat down looked like great place to eat cool looking bar and all........started noticing the tables all guys sitting holding hands etc. etc..........we didnt stay and eat but they were nice we just felt out of place
